Weather Direct is intentionally small in what it asks from you and explicit about what public services may receive to return weather for your area.

Location handling

Weather Direct uses your selected location to find forecasts, alerts, radar views, current conditions, and tropical storm context for your area. You can use device location or manually search for a city/place.

Weather data sources

Weather Direct requests data from public and official weather-related sources where available, including National Weather Service / NOAA APIs, NOAA/NWS radar services, National Hurricane Center public tropical storm data, and public geocoding or mapping services needed for app functionality.

Alert disclaimer

Weather Direct is for general weather awareness. Weather data and alert notifications may be delayed, unavailable, incomplete, or affected by public-source outages, device settings, network availability, or operating-system background restrictions.

No sign-in

Weather Direct does not require a Weather Direct account or sign-in.

No tracking policy

Weather Direct does not include advertising SDKs, analytics SDKs, tracking SDKs, Firebase, CloudKit sync, advertising identifiers, or cross-app tracking profiles.

Local storage

Weather Direct stores app data locally on the device in app-private storage. Local data may include selected location metadata, cached weather, notification preferences, seen-alert records, onboarding state, and app settings.

Permissions

Weather Direct may request location permission and notification permission. You can deny location permission and use manual location search. You can deny notification permission and still use in-app weather surfaces.

Does Weather Direct store my location on its servers?

No. Weather Direct does not operate a Weather Direct backend location-tracking server. Location may be sent directly from your device to public weather, geocoding, radar, or mapping services to provide weather for your area.

Can I use Weather Direct without location permission?

Yes. Use manual city or place search instead of device GPS.

How do I delete local Weather Direct data?

Delete the app from your device to remove app-private local data. Device-level permissions can also be managed through iOS or Android settings.

Are notifications guaranteed?

No. Notifications can be delayed or limited by network conditions, device settings, operating-system background behavior, or public-source availability.
